A procedure in which a subject is genetically engineered for specific traits. It is illegal except to correct severe birth defects, but it was going on on Adigeon Prime in 2348. Any individual discovered to have been so treated is barred from serving in Starfleet or practicing medicine, in order to discourage the creation of genetic "supermen" like Khan Singh. In some instances the subject suffers incurable mental side effects.
